The #250kchallenge ended at the perfect time. As soon as it was over, it was time for vacation! We headed to GA for a week, so I knew good food was in my future. I also knew there would be no gym access because I don’t have a nationwide gym membership yet. I figured I could use the week to let my body heal because my shins were beat up from kickboxing and my joints welcomed a nice rest.  Since January, I had been working out hard for 6 days a week, non-stop (with the exception of a couple days taken for rest when I was sick)!

When I packed for the trip, I made sure to pack enough workout outfits, sports bras, and socks because I had every intention of making movement a part of day. Prior to vacation, I searched for local barre studios, I checked the schedules at the yoga studio I earned my teacher certification and my friend’s new boutique fitness studio. Due to how crazy busy we were and crazy weather, I decided to get creative and put my previous group fitness, dance, and yoga experience to good use!

Here is a breakdown of my vacation workouts:

Day 1: Tabata Body Weight Exercises

Lunges on lunges
  • I wanted a total body workout that left me sweaty and feeling accomplished. Tabata consists of 8 sets of 20 seconds on/10 seconds off (rest). My workout was intense and definitely left me sore! Maybe I’ll post it soon!

Day 2: Yoga

Power yoga is my jam.
  • 60 minutes of power yoga = BLISS. My practice left me happy, sore, and craving more yoga. I miss teaching yoga!

Day 3: Barre

Leg in attitude position = BURN!
  • I was sore from yoga but decided to work my core and lower body. My #1 passion is dance, so I can’t believe I haven’t done a dance based workout in a long time. It’s been a year since I’ve taken a barre or ballet class, so this workout was inspiring.

Day 4: Yoga

  • Another power yoga session! Lots of vinyasa in a 30 minute practice. Namaste!

Day 6: Pilates

Pilates at-home workout
  • I arrived home yesterday evening but decided to put in one more at-home workout. I used to take pilates classes WAY back in the day when I started college and was a dance major. It was an awesome supplement to my dance training. I even took a weekend workshop to get certified in mat pilates after college and taught it as a fitness instructor. Now that I know more about pilates, I see that it takes hundred of hours to get certified (like my 200 hour Yoga Alliance certification).

Not one barbell was lifted, yet I sit here STILL sore and feeling good.
