The #stillinit17 challenge may be over, but bodybuilding.com has put out another fitness challenge to keep folks motivated for summer. It starts on July 3 and runs for 6 weeks; we can do anything for 6 weeks, right?
The challenge consists of weekly challenges that participants can post to social media. Winners will fly to the IFBB Olympia! I am so jealous of whoever gets picked. In 2010, not only did I attend, I actually worked at the expo and had such an amazing time! I know the winners will love their experience.
DREADES BEFORE PICS: Everyone should be proud of taking a before pic because it represents the start (or continuation) of one’s fitness journey. I’ve taken countless before pics but I finally felt secure enough to post these on Instagram. This particular set of before pics show a year’s worth of consistent work that began when I was 6 weeks postpartum. I am not perfect, I have loose skin, tiger marks, cellulite, and other flaws but I am real and pretty darn proud of my progress…and these before pics.
THE CHALLENGE: What makes this challenge a challenge (ha) is that I’m training for a half marathon at the same time of the contest. EEK! I explained on Instagram that I ran completed a half marathon in 2012 with a finish time of 2:53:24 (13:14 minute mile pace). My longest training run was 6 miles (ouch). During this half marathon, I ran 7 miles and had to run/walk the remainder; I’m shocked I finished under 3 hours. This half marathon in August is for redemption and a hopefully a nice POT (proof of time). The challenge is that I still want to keep lifting a priority while fitting in training runs , ALL WHILE keeping on muscle. Cheers to another challenge!
