I took a couple weeks off from blogging because I just got really busy.
Several months ago, I blogged about how everything old is new again for me lately. Well, a funny thing happened after lunch a couple of weekends ago. My friend and I had a fabulous lunch at an Indian buffet and decided to walk around the shopping plaza to see what else was located there. I discovered a dance store and thought, “How cute, look at all the leotards and pointe shoes.” As we decided to pass on by, I saw a dance studio next to it. I had to go in. I inquired about dance classes and it was a perfect fit. Not only did they offer adult dance classes, the classes were late enough for me to attend (PERFECTION)! I bought a Groupon for the studio and used up two passes that afternoon to take a contemporary and Hip Hop class.
A few days later, I took a jazz class and I was in dance heaven. Prior to attending class, I emailed a director to inquire about dress code and let her know I was sad about missing company auditions just a couple weeks prior. Luckily, I was invited to join the training company and rehearsed that very night! Because I’m a member of the training company, we are required to take ballet and jazz class to stay on top of our technique. I’ve been attending dance classes since and I’m absolutely loving it.
Here’s a quick glance at my October:
- Dance: I will perform with the NFL Atlanta Falcons Cheerleader alumni during halftime at a game!
- More dance: The dance company will be performing later in the month at a dance festival!
- Race: Of course, I have a 10K that same morning so needless to say I probably won’t be going for a PR now that I know how I feel after I truly go for broke and race as fast as I can. Instead, I’ll be running for fun and in costume. My main focus is the Turkey Trot 15K so the pre-performance 10K will be a training run and get me back into the racing mindset.
- Group Runs: I run with the group as often as possible!
- #missionpossiblepat: I’m still in it, despite injuries in the beginning and a 1 week break due to being on vacation. I did get some movement in by learning my performance routine and doing some bodyweight exercises.
- Yoga: I’ve been studying a lot about yoga for athletes since it applies to my current situation. I have enjoyed getting back to my roots. I still go to a studio once a week and practice on my own several times a week.
How’s your October training coming along?
