Last Saturday, I celebrated early by getting out of the house attending a grand opening for a local yoga studio called Grey Owl Yoga. The grey decor, the vibe, and the space is absolutely beautiful. They have a meditation room, two yoga rooms, and an inviting lobby. I was happy to see they have offerings for workshops. I purchased one month’s worth of unlimited classes and can not wait to get back to the studio!

My friend taught a 30 minute sample class of yin yoga. If you haven’t tried yin yoga, I highly recommend trying it. Especially if you’re an athlete and never stretch, but it is beneficial for any body.  Some days, 30 minutes of yoga is just right but other days, like Saturday, it was a tease! Just as I was falling into my practice, it was over. Maybe I needed a lot more because I ran 7 miles earlier that morning and didn’t stretch like I needed to!

There was a mini pop up for beauty products. A gorgeous young lady was selling her line of natural hair and skin products and offered tea samples. OMG-ALL of her products smelled AMAZING. I purchased a skin/hair cream that smells like chai and brown sugar (yummy). It leaves my skin so smooth and silky, I can’t wait to see her online store open for business soon. I’m all for natural, good-for-you skin and hair care, especially after hearing reports of what some of big companies put in products.

In honor of International Yoga Day, I made it a priority to dedicate at least 10 minutes a day to yoga. This is a sad goal for me because I used to practice daily and I need it even more now that I’ve amped up my fitness training.  I also set a goal to do a few handstands, side planks, and boat pose daily and to practice pincha mayurasana (one of my favorite poses). As of today, I have hit those goals everyday this week and I’ve even increased the amount of time I can hold the poses!

I had to cut my workout short this morning and promised myself that I would run tonight. However, I’m deciding between a 3 mile run or 108 sun salutations (which would take over an hour but would be an amazing physical and mental workout). Which way will I go?
