One of my New Year’s resolutions was to eat more healthy foods. Being vegetarian since 2003, you’d think I’d have better eating habits but I need more whole foods and greens in my life (don’t we all)! This smoothie is an easy way to fit in veggies and fruit. I have been drinking this smoothie since January and feel so energized! I make enough for my husband and I, then I feed what is leftover to my baby boy (toddler wants nothing to do with it). Read on for ingredients and easy directions!
The smoothie is filling enough for me to count as breakfast. It is smooth, creamy, and the ingredients taste amazing together. You can probably substitute soy or oat milk, or chia seeds for hemp hearts. You can even leave out protein powder if you wish! One serving makes about 16 oz of yumminess.
INGREDIENTS
- Almond milk-1 cup for one serving. I use 2 cups for my hubby and I.
- Greens: Spinach, kale or a mix of the two. When I was in a pinch, I used spring mix salad and it was still delicious. I suggest 1 handful per 1 cup of milk; so I throw in 2 handfuls since 2 use 2 cups.
- Almond milk-I use unsweetened.
- 1 banana
- Hemp hearts-I use Manitoba and sometimes Trader Joe’s brands.
- Frozen avocado
- Frozen pineapple
- Garden of Life Raw Organic Protein Powder
DIRECTIONS
- Mix almond milk, greens and banana for at least 30 seconds.
- Then mix hemp hearts, protein powder, avocado and pineapple for 30 seconds or more.
- Enjoy the Green Goddess smoothie!
That’s it! Simple and delicious. Do you have smoothie recipes that you love?
