Atlanta Track Club’s PNC 10 miler & 5K has been on my radar for years. 10 mile events are hard to find around here but being 23 weeks pregnant, I decided to sign up for the 5K and watched in envy as the 10 mile runners kicked off the race
WHAT I WORE: With temps in the low 40’s + windchill that made it feel like 30 degrees, I wore a long sleeve tech top, my purple “Running for Two” tank layered on top, and my favorite Target workout leggings with pockets because the material is thick and they’re very supportive. My Zensah grit socks kept my feet warm! I also wore my fave Headsweats OM hat (for the yogi in me), Hoka running shoes, and Saucony running gloves. I was surprisingly comfortable before and during the race.
COURSE: It’s Atlanta so it was full of unkind hills. My strategy was to walk up the hills and jog a majority of the rest. I took several 30 sec-1 min walk breaks and upped the speed a bit at the home stretch. I felt great post race, I definitely had more left in the tank so I took this as a sign that I didn’t push too hard during the race.
FINISH: My worst 5K finish time 36:25 at 23 weeks pregnant, but I’m still proud of myself for getting out there! This was my 3rd race preggo and it is only getting harder. I know I can’t “go all out” physically even though my mind wishes I could but I did my best. I finished in the middle of the pack and got some high 5’s at the finish line! Shout out to the other preggo runner I met briefly after the race!
SWAG: All finishers got a nice medal and a MIZUNO long sleeve tech shirt (10 milers got a Mizuno hoodie)! How sweet is that?
Racers also got a full sized Cliff bar, Powerade, full size bottled Dasani water, and banana at the finish line. There was a vendor that offered free massages, a stretch area, massage balls (I grabbed 2 with permission), and other cool vendors I didn’t check out because I was too cold and in a hurry to get the car.
The PNC 10 Mile and 5K race was a great event! Atlanta Track Club’s events are well ran and extremely organized. They had a DJ who played music the entire time to pump us up, there was also a great MC who stayed on the mic from beginning (to count down the corrals) to the end (to welcome us back) and the volunteers made it fun. I can’t wait to try the 10 mile course and experience Cardiac Hill next year!
Do you like cold weather races? Have you ever ran a 10 mile race?
Hey that’s faster than many runners who are not pregnant.
Good for you on staying active.
Wow you did an amazing job, especially with all of those hills! way to go 🙂
I’m so impressed that you’re still able to be super active throughout your pregnancy. It’s amazing!
You should definitely be proud of yourself! Glad you are feeling so well

Great swag! I love that long sleeve Mizuno shirt!
I’m running a 10 miler on Sunday, actually. It will be my fourth or fifth time running it, so it’s a distance I’ve done.
So glad you were able to get out there and feel great doing it!

I don’t mind cold weather races as that is my preferred running weather! I did a 10miler a few years ago in February, it was 7 degrees outside…YIKES!!!
